The Sparkle 500

Here is my first Sparkle 500 blog post. Full disclosure… It might go all over the place. I was Zooming when I wrote this, or maybe it was Google Meet.
The best way for me to start this is just to start.
If I get too caught up in the details, I won’t begin writing. What is this about? We want to share with you about our process, what we're working on, why we’re making theatre, updates about the workshops we are teaching, and more.
I’m told “This can be a log or reference point for people to look at in the future.” I like that. We seek to cultivate an audience for these blog posts. Today is Wednesday, June 25th, 2025. Alejandra and I just finished our monthly Sparkle Advisory Board meeting.
(Record scratch sound…)
Actually, it’s Sunday July 27th, 2025 and this post has not been shared yet. Alejandra said that it needs to go out this week, so I’m amending the original post for its near-future distribution.

Ok, The Sparkle 500, it has been decided that Sparkle Theatricals will create a blog and post quarterly entries. Alejandra is sort of leading the way with this and I’m excited to see the directions that it goes. The idea is that each installment is to be 500 words or less. It has been specifically determined, and confirmed that we are talking about 500 words, and not 500 characters.
Here ye! Let it be known, the 500 refers to word count.
There was a moment where some people were discussing The Sparkle 50, but everyone later agreed that 500 seems a bit more substantial. “50, huh!” they said “Add that other zero back!” and that’s exactly what we did. Hence, The Sparkle 500.
We’re in the process of a logo redesign. More on that later. To be continued at another time… Hey look!... as of right HERE we are at 444 words. Ha! Not too shabby. So 500 words is like one page at 12 point font. Good to know.
Well, just over one page. This paragraph put me onto page two, and we still need three more words to go to reach a full and complete 500 word creation. Thanks for reading.
